Public swimming pool monthly ticket to launch tomorrow (with photos)
************************************************************

The public swimming pool monthly ticket scheme will commence tomorrow (July 5). Swimmers who have already purchased tickets can swim as often as they like during the one-month validity period at 40 public swimming pools managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).

The monthly ticket scheme has been well received by the public, especially by the elderly, with over 60 per cent of some 5,400 tickets sold to people aged 60 or above since the tickets were first put on sale on June 21.

The monthly ticket is priced at $300. Swimmers aged 60 or above, persons with disabilities and their minders (on a one-to-one basis), children aged between 3 and 13 and full-time students can enjoy half-rate concession.

Holders of the monthly ticket will be entitled to unlimited admission to all LCSD swimming pools (except Wan Chai Swimming Pool, which is designated for group training) during public sessions for one month from the effective date of the ticket.

The monthly ticket is not transferable. A holder of the ticket is required to produce a valid ticket with his or her name printed on it, together with his or her identity document for verification by venue staff before entering a swimming pool through designated turnstiles. Acceptable identity documents include a Hong Kong identity card, a passport, a re-entry permit, or a valid full-time student identity card or handbook bearing a photograph of the ticket holder.

Ticket holders should line up with other users when waiting for admission on a first-come, first-served basis, and no admission priority will be given.

The monthly tickets are available for purchase at the booking counters of 42 designated sports centres and leisure venues from 9am to 10pm daily. For details of the booking offices, please visit the department's website at www.lcsd.gov.hk. Enquiries can be made by calling 2414 5555.

The public swimming pool monthly ticket scheme aims to make regular swimming more affordable, particularly for the elderly, thus promoting the sport of swimming and encouraging people to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Those who swim less frequently will also be encouraged to purchase the monthly ticket and swim more often.
