Final phase of advance tickets for Picasso exhibition to go on sale tomorrow
************************************************************

The final phase of advance tickets for the well-received travelling exhibition "PICASSO - Masterpieces from Musée National Picasso, Paris" will go on sale tomorrow (June 15).

A spokesperson for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (June 14) urged members of the public to grasp this last chance to purchase advance tickets to see the work of one of the world's most celebrated artists on a scale never seen before in Hong Kong.

The final phase of advance tickets covers exhibition dates from June 30 to July 22 - the last day of the exhibition. Unsold tickets in the second phase (exhibition dates up to June 29) can still be purchased through the advance ticket sales channels.

"As the exhibition period is relatively short, lasting for little more than two months, we expect more visitors will flock in to see this not-to-be-missed exhibition towards the latter half of the exhibition period," the spokesperson said.

"Also, more students are expected to visit the exhibition when the final term examination comes to an end in the latter half of this month. Members of the public are thus advised to plan their visits as early as possible and to purchase advance tickets."

Up to yesterday (June 13), more than 100,000 people had visited the exhibition and about 115,000 tickets had been sold. The tickets for the coming two weekends - June 16 and 17, and June 23 and 24 - have already sold out.

Advance tickets for the Picasso exhibition are available through all URBTIX outlets, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's box office, Internet booking via URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk) and credit card telephone booking (hotline: 2111 5999).

For the latest updates on sold-out sessions, please visit the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's website at www.heritagemuseum.gov.hk/eng/exhibitions/exhibition_details.aspx?exid=189, or call the Hong Kong Heritage Museum (Tel: 2180 8188) or URBTIX (Tel: 2734 9009) for enquiries.

"PICASSO - Masterpieces from Musée National Picasso, Paris" runs from May 19 to July 22. The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is open daily from 10am to 8pm except for Tuesday when the museum is closed. There are three viewing sessions on weekdays and five on weekends and public holidays:

* The three viewing sessions on weekdays are:
  10am-1pm, 1pm-5pm and 5pm-8pm
* The five viewing sessions on weekends and public holidays are:
  10am-noon, noon-2pm, 2pm-4pm, 4pm-6pm and 6pm-8pm

The admission fee for the exhibition is set at $20. Visitors using a Picasso exhibition ticket can also visit other exhibition galleries in the museum for free. Children under 4 years old are entitled to free admission. As this is a special exhibition, free admission on Wednesdays and concession tickets are not applicable.

LCSD museum pass holders are required to present their museum pass for redemption of admission vouchers for entry to the exhibition. Vouchers will be available for redemption on a first-come, first-served basis at the museum 15 minutes before each viewing session.

Schools and registered charitable and non-profit-making organisations that are planning group visits with a minimum of 20 persons can apply in writing for free admission. Application forms can be downloaded from the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's website. Due to the overwhelming response to group visits, the museum has arranged for two additional viewing sessions on the museum rest day: July 10 (Tuesday) from 10am to 1pm, and July 17 (Tuesday) from 1pm to 5pm. Schools and eligible organisations can apply for these special sessions from June 18 on a first-come, first-served basis.

Co-presented by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau and the LCSD, the exhibition is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and the Musée National Picasso, Paris. It is one of the highlight cultural events to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the 20th edition of Le French May.

The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is located at 1 Man Lam Road, Sha Tin, New Territories. Limited paid car parking is available at the museum. Members of the public who make use of public transport may take the MTR Ma On Shan Line and get off at Che Kung Temple Station, which is within three minutes' walk of the museum.

For details of the exhibition, please visit the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's website at hk.heritage.museum. For enquiries, please call 2180 8188.
