The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) New Territories West Cluster held an opening ceremony today (June 5) for the Tin Shui Wai (Tin Yip Road) Community Health Centre. The Vice-Minister of Health, Dr Huang Jiefu; the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow; and the HA Chairman, Mr Anthony Wu, officiated at the ceremony.

In operation since February 8 this year, the Tin Shui Wai (Tin Yip Road) Community Health Centre is the first health centre with design based on the Government's primary care development strategy and service model. It is a one-stop centre where people receive comprehensive primary care services by multi-disciplinary primary care professionals in the community. The general out-patient clinic on the first floor provides around 200 consultations per day. Together with the other health centre on Tin Shui Road, more than 200 000 general outpatient consultations can be provided every year.

Patients visiting the Tin Yip Road health centre are referred to the multi-disciplinary primary care professionals (including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, prosthetist-orthotists, dieticians and optometrists) located on the second floor to receive appropriate intervention and follow-up services. The centre also collaborates with non-governmental organisations to provide health-care education and psychological counselling services.

The health centre is located near the Hong Kong Wetland Park at 3 Tin Yip Road, Tin Shui Wai. The centre is open on Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm (closed from 1pm to 2pm) and on Saturday from 9am to 1pm. The 24-hour telephone booking number for patients with episodic illness is 2469 9222.
