Further arrests in connection with wounding case in Cheung Sha Wan

     Police today (May 22) arrested eight men and one woman suspected in connection with a wounding case in Cheung Sha Wan on May 11.

     At about 9.40pm on May 11, a traffic police officer found a 45-year-old man being assaulted by four to five men armed with knives outside 155 Castle Peak Road. The police officer gave three verbal warnings to the culprits in vain and subsequently fired one shot at one of the culprits who was aged 36. The 36-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his back while the 45-year-old man sustained multiple chop wounds to his body. Both were sent to Caritas Medical Centre, where the 36-year-old man was certified dead at 10.28pm that night.

     Police arrested six men and one woman aged from 22 to 56 in connection with the case on May 12 and 15 respectively. They were released on bail pending further enquiries and are required to report back to Police in mid-June.

     After investigations, the Regional Anti-triad Unit of Kowloon West mounted a joint operation with the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon West at a building at 2-4 Tai Yau Street in Wong Tai Sin at about 5am this morning, and arrested eight men and one woman aged from 19 to 49 in connection with the case. They will be detained overnight for further enquiries.

     Active investigation on all possible leads is still on going.
