A sub-agent of a drainage contractor was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice under the Crimes Ordinance, and fined $1,000 for failing to take reasonable care of other persons under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Court today (April 30). The prosecutions were launched by the Police and the Labour Department respectively.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred in Kwai Chung on June 17, 2011, in which a drainage worker who was working inside an underground drainage pipe drowned to his death as a result of a sudden inrush of water into the pipe.
