Yau Ma Tei Theatre facilities hiring service open for applications
******************************************************

The Yau Ma Tei Theatre (YMTT) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), which will open its hiring service in the second half of the year, has started accepting booking applications for its Theatre and the two Function Rooms at the nearby Red Brick Building.

The YMTT, located at 6 Waterloo Road, provides a 300-seat Theatre. Together with the Function Rooms at the Red Brick Building, the facilities are suitable for staging Chinese opera performances, rehearsals and workshops.

All the booking applications must be for Chinese opera-related activities. The Theatre is now open for bookings for the period from August 2012 to April 2013. Bookings for the Function Rooms at the Red Brick Building are being accepted for the period from July to December 2012.

Details of the booking arrangements and application forms are now available at the YMTT Administration Office at the Red Brick Building and can also be downloaded from the following website: www.lcsd.gov.hk/CE/CulturalService/ymtt/en/index.php. Enquiries can be made on 2374 2598.

A spokesman for the LCSD pointed out that for the development of Cantonese opera, the Government has positioned the YMTT as a territory-wide performing arts venue dedicated to Chinese opera, in particular as a training and performing venue for nurturing Cantonese opera talents.

The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong is the venue partner of the YMTT in the LCSD's three-year Venue Partnership Scheme, which is implemented from April 2012 to March 2015. The venue partner's activity plan aims to nurture budding and young Cantonese opera artists.
