Senior Counsel appointed

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

     The Honourable Chief Justice Geoffrey Ma Tao-li is pleased to announce today (April 3) the appointment of four Senior Counsel of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. They are:

Mr Li Chau-yuen
Mr Robert Pang Yiu-hung
Mr Eugene Fung Ting-sek
Mr Charles Peter Manzoni

     The appointments are made by the Chief Justice under section 31A of the Legal Practitioners Ordinance.

     The appointments will take effect from the date of the Instrument of Appointment, which will be executed on May 19, 2012, when the ceremonial proceedings will be held at 10am in Court No. 7 in the High Court.

     The biographical notes of the newly appointed Senior Counsel are as follows:

Mr Li Chau-yuen

     Mr Li Chau-yuen, aged 52, obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Hong Kong. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 1987. He has a civil practice.
 
Mr Robert Pang Yiu-hung

     Mr Robert Pang Yiu-hung, aged 47, obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Hong Kong. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 1988. He has a mainly civil practice, but also a criminal practice.

Mr Eugene Fung Ting-sek

     Mr Eugene Fung Ting-sek, aged 40, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Laws degree at the University of Cambridge. He was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Lincoln's Inn), and to the Hong Kong Bar in 1997. He has a civil practice.

Mr Charles Peter Manzoni

     Mr Charles Peter Manzoni, aged 48, obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol and a Diploma in Law at City University, London. He was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Middle Temple) in 1988 and was called to the Inner Bar in 2009. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 2000. He has a civil practice.
