Reservations for interviews by Mainland higher education institutions
*********************************************************

     The Education Bureau (EDB) today (March 30) reminded students who have completed online enrollment and on-site verification for the pilot scheme, whereby 63 Mainland higher education institutions will exempt Hong Kong students from taking the Joint Entrance Examination for Universities on the Mainland, that they should visit the designated website to make reservations for interviews from April 1 to 30.

     An EDB spokesman said that more than 4 200 students had completed the procedure for enrollment in Mainland higher education institutions by the end of the application period in mid-March this year.

     Candidates who have completed online enrollment and on-site verification for the pilot scheme should enter the online enrollment system of the Co-Office of the Mainland Chinese Universities and Colleges of P.R. China for the Joint Examinations and Enrolment of the Students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese-Resident Areas and Countries (www.ecogd.edu.cn) to make reservation for interviews from April 1 to 30.

     Candidates should click "HK Students Enrolment" under the menu of "Joint Admission" to check whether they are offered interview opportunities by the institutions in which they have enrolled. They can also use the online enrollment system to complete the procedure for interview reservations and alter their reservation details before April 30.

     Candidates should bring the following documents when attending the interviews:

(a) Hong Kong Identity Card and Home Visit Permit;

(b) a printed copy of their completed online interview reservation form;

(c) originals and a copies of relevant identity- and study-related documents (certifcates of award, academic results, etc.); and

(d) other information required by individual institutions (please refer to the announcements by the institutions in the online enrollment system for details)

     According to the admissions procedure for 2012, interviews by mainland higher education institutions will be held in Shenzhen from May 5 to 6 (the time and venue for interviews by institutions with special requirements will be arranged separately). Details about interview venues will be announced by the institutions via the online enrollment system.

     Institutions will announce lists of conditional offers in mid-May based on the application information submitted by candidates and their interview performance. The formal admission stage will start in late July and institutions will announce admission results before August 3. Candidates who have not been invited for interviews or are not on the lists of conditional offers will still be eligible for consideration by the Mainland higher education institutions for admission under the pilot scheme.

     Details of the pilot scheme are available on the EDB's website (www.edb.gov.hk/expo2011).
