Expression of interest invited for premises to provide services to gifted students
*******************************************************

The Education Bureau (EDB) today (March 29) invited expression of interest (EOI) from non-government organisations and tertiary institutions to stage educational programmes and deliver educational services for gifted students at the ex-premises of the Sai Kung Field Studies Centre in the Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre, Tui Min Hoi, Sai Kung.

A bureau spokesman said, "To strengthen students' creativity and enhance gifted education for the students, we are exploring the possibility of stepping up off-school educational services to provide more chances for youngsters to engage in challenging learning opportunities in various domains.

"We encourage the best use of the venue by running off-school programmes such as study camps, workshops and mentorship schemes, all of which could serve as a platform for gifted students to stretch their talents and potential. The EDB may consider sponsoring the programmes to be run by the successful bidder."

The successful bidder may be granted a period of tenancy for about three years tentatively starting from late 2012 for the operation of the site.

Information relating to the EOI exercise, including the infrastructure of the premises concerned and the pro forma for the exercise, can be downloaded from the EDB homepage ( resources.edb.gov.hk/gifted/invitation/index.htm).

Interested parties should complete the pro forma and return it to Gifted Education Section, Curriculum Development Institute, Education Bureau, by mail (address: E328, East Block, Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre, 19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon Tong) on or before April 25.

After receiving the returns, the EDB will consider inviting shortlisted applicants to submit detailed proposals. For enquiries, please contact the Gifted Education Section at 3698 3471.
