Employer fined for wage offences and defaulting on payment of Minor Employment Claims Adjudication Board award offence

     An employer was fined $60,000 at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (March 20)  under the Employment Ordinance for wage offences and defaulting on payment of Minor Employment Claims Adjudication Board award offence. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
  
     The employer failed to pay wages to an employee within seven days after the expiry of wage periods and termination of employment as required by the Ordinance. The total amount of wages involved was about $4,000.  Furthermore, the company failed to pay the awarded sum of about $6,100 to the employee within 14 days after the specified date according to the Minor Employment Claims Adjudication Board award.
