Company and its director fined for wage offences and defaulting on payment of Minor Employment Claims Adjudication Board award offences

     Vision Interior Design & Consultant Limited and its director were each sentenced at the Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (March 13) to a $35,000 fine under the Employment Ordinance for wage offences and defaulting on payment of Minor Employment Claims Adjudication Board award offences. A total fine of $70,000 was imposed on the two defendants.

     The company failed to pay wages to an employee within seven days after the expiry of wage periods and termination of employment as required by the ordinance. The total amount of wages involved was about $5,700. Furthermore, the company failed to pay the awarded sum of about $6,900 to the employee within 14 days of the date of the Minor Employment Claims Adjudication Board award.

     The director was convicted for his consent, connivance or neglect in the wage offences and defaulting on payment of Minor Employment Claims Adjudication Board award offences.
