The Government Youth Portal, Youth.gov.hk, is organising Fresh Takes on Nature - The Second Moving Images Competition for Secondary Students in Hong Kong to increase awareness and knowledge of environmental protection, sustainable development, low-carbon living and other environmental issues in Hong Kong among young people. Open to all secondary students, the competition aims to encourage creativity and broaden horizons on environmental issues. Interested parties can download the application form from the website www.youth.gov.hk/freshtakes now (March 6) and submit the completed form with their entry by post.

The competition focuses on four topics: "Green Campus", "Sustainable Urbanisation", "Low Carbon Living Style" and "My Green Story". Participants are required to submit moving images (short video clips, which can include photographs and animations) not exceeding three minutes to tell stories about green changes around them. The winning team will receive fascinating prizes which include folding bicycles, book coupons and a Cycling Eco-tour. The champion, first runner-up and second runner-up will get the chance to produce videos on environmental conservation with a professional crew for public screening.

The deadline for submission of entries is May 10. Freshtube collects short films and videos produced by individuals or groups of young people. It aims to provide a channel for showcasing youths' creativity and deepen their understanding of Hong Kong's environmental resources and natural heritage, provoking discussion and contemplation of our environmental issues.
