Following is the speech (translation) by the Acting Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Ms Julia Leung, in moving Second Reading of the new Clause 18A of the Banking (Amendment) Bill 2011 at the Legislative Council meeting today (February 29):
Acting Madam President,
I move the Second Reading of the new Clause 18A.
For the same reason of the previous amendments, a new Clause 18A is proposed to amend the Fourteenth Schedule to the Banking Ordinance so that the Chinese rendition of "流動資產" for the word "liquidity", as appearing in the definition of "財政管理", will be replaced by "流動性".
Acting Madam President, the above amendment to include the new clause has been submitted to the House Committee for consideration and Members have raised no objection. I hope Members will support this amendment.
I move that new Clause 18A be added to the Bill.
