Company and its director fined for wage offences and defaulting on payment of Labour Tribunal award offences

     Armed Forces Security (HK) Limited and its director were sentenced at the Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (February 28) to a $345,000 fine and a $350,000 fine respectively under the Employment Ordinance.

     The company failed to pay wages and/or wages in lieu of notice to four employees within seven days after the expiry of wage periods and termination of employment as required by the ordinance. The total amount of wages and/or wages in lieu of notice involved was about $51,500. Furthermore, the company failed to pay the awarded sum of about $61,800 to three employees within 14 days of the date of the Labour Tribunal award.
  
     The director was convicted for his consent, connivance or neglect in the wage offences and defaulting on payment of Labour Tribunal award offences.
