Primary and secondary school students interested in joining the Yuen Yuen Institute Student Drawing Competition at the Hong Kong Flower Show 2012 are invited to enrol through their schools by February 14 (Tuesday).
The competition is organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). It will be held on March 16 (Friday) from 9am to noon at Victoria Park.
The competition will feature students' impressive drawings of exquisite flowers and unique garden displays in the showground with a view to enhancing awareness of conserving plants and the natural environment.
The theme of this year's drawing competition is "Floral Delights". Participants may draw or paint any floral exhibits or garden displays in the showground to illustrate the theme.
The competition will be conducted in four categories: Junior Section in Primary School (Primary One to Primary Three), Senior Section in Primary School (Primary Four to Primary Six), Junior Section in Secondary School (Form One to Form Three) and Senior Section in Secondary School (Form Four to Form Seven).
Each category will have a champion, first runner-up and second runner-up, as well as 10 highly commended entrants and 15 certificate of merit winners.
The prospectus and entry form can be downloaded from the LCSD webpage at www.lcsd.gov.hk/green/hkfs/2012/en/drawing.php. Completed forms should be signed by the principal of the participating schools and sent to the Chairman of the Fringe Activities Sub-committee, Hong Kong Flower Show 2012, at Fa Yuen Street Sports Centre, 13/F, Fa Yuen Street Municipal Services Building, 123A Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon, or submitted by fax (2395 1500) on or before February 14.
Winning entries by the champions, first and second runners-up and those who are highly commended will be exhibited in the showground at Victoria Park from March 17 to 25. All winning entries will then be displayed at the Kowloon Park Arcade and also be available for viewing at the LCSD webpage www.lcsd.gov.hk/green/hkfs/2012/en/drawing.php in May 2012.
