Employer fined for non-payment of periodical payments

Asiamate Holdings Limited was fined $50,000 at the Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts today (January 13) for failing to pay periodical payments in accordance with requirements of the Employees' Compensation Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
On May 19, 2009, a clerk sustained left ankle and right knee injuries while working. The employer failed to pay periodical payments to the employee on the normal paydays or within seven days thereafter as required by the Ordinance.
