Year 2012 civic education desktop calendar available free from Friday (with photo)
**********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education:

The year 2012 desktop calendar promoting core values will be available free for collection from December 23 (Friday). It has been published by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE).

Under the theme of "Cherish yourself and your family, Love Hong Kong and your country", the calendar carries messages embodying core values, such as self-reliance, responsibility, respect and civic-mindedness, in each of the months, coupled with quotations from Chinese classics including Yi Jin (Classics of Change), the Doctrine of the Mean, the Book of Rites, and more. It is hoped that the calendar can encourage Hong Kong people to put such values into practice in daily life and build a harmonious society together.

The calendar was designed by young comic artist Aken Leung, with lively illustrations on the importance of the different core values featuring his comic character "Ah Lei".

The calendar is available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Home Affairs Department's Public Enquiry Service Centres, public libraries, city halls and town halls, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong Museum of History and the Civic Education Resource Centre on 7/F, Youth Square, 238 Chai Wan Road, Chai Wan.

An electronic version of the calendar will also be available on the CPCE website (www.cpce.gov.hk/calendar2012) for downloading from Friday.

For enquiries, please call 2802 0131.
