************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Community Care Fund Secretariat:

The Community Care Fund (CCF) today (December 6) rolled out the assistance programme on "Training Subsidy for Children who are on the Waiting List of Subvented Pre-school Rehabilitation Services".

This assistance programme aims to provide pre-school children from low-income families and in need of rehabilitation services with subsidised services for not more than 12 months at a maximum monthly subsidy of $2,500, so as to enable the children to receive necessary services as soon as possible to facilitate their learning and development.  It is expected to benefit about 4 200 children.

Beneficiaries must be on the waiting list for subvented pre-school rehabilitation services on or before November 30, 2011, and their monthly household income does not exceed 75 per cent of the Median Monthly Domestic Household Income applicable to their household size.

Notification letters enclosing application forms will be issued by the Social Welfare Department (SWD) to the parents and guardians of the children concerned this month. Applicants have to submit the completed application forms together with all necessary documents by post or by hand to the CCF Team of the SWD on or before February 29, 2012.

Eligible children will be able to use the CCF subsidy to obtain training/therapy services provided by special child care workers, psychologists or occupational therapists/physiotherapists/speech therapists and parent support services from service providers approved by the SWD.  It is expected that eligible children can receive the services as early as January 2012.

For details of the assistance programme, please visit the CCF website (www.communitycarefund.hk) or the SWD website (www.swd.gov.hk).  For enquiries, please call the SWD hotline (Tel: 2343 2255) or the CCF Team of the SWD (Tel: 3422 3090).
