Appointments to Copyright Tribunal

     The Government today (November 25) announced that the Chief Executive has appointed Mr Albert Wong Kwai-huen as the Chairman and Mr Anthony Tong Tat-hay as the Deputy Chairman of the Copyright Tribunal.

     The Chief Executive has also appointed four new members and re-appointed three members to the tribunal. The new members are Mr Dewitt Chik Koon-yin, Ms Grace Chu Hing-wah, Miss Norris Lam Man-ngar and Mr Kenneth Wong Wing-yan. The three re-appointed members are Dr Bernard Chan Pak-li, Ms Susanna Chiu Lai-kuen and Dr Jack Lau.

     The aforesaid appointments and re-appointments will take effect from December 1, 2011, for a period of two years.

     "We would like to express our gratitude to the retiring Chairman, Miss Gladys Veronica Li Chi-hei, the Deputy Chairman, Mr Kenneth Ho King-man, and members Mr Cheng Chi-ming, Ms Emily Cheung Mui-seung, Mr David Lam Tai-wai and Mr Joseph Tung Yao-chung for their service to the tribunal over the past years," a Government spokesman said.

     The Copyright Tribunal is a quasi-judicial body established under the Copyright Ordinance. It adjudicates on disputes concerning the terms and conditions of copyright licensing schemes devised by licensing bodies. The Chairman and the Deputy Chairman of the tribunal must be qualified for appointment as District Judges.
 
     The membership of the Copyright Tribunal with effect from December 1, 2011, is as follows:
