Police officer's loss of weapon reported
****************************************

Police received a report from a police officer last night (November 23), claiming that he had lost his weapon, including six bullets (ammunition), a speed loader (with pouch), an extendible baton (with pouch) and a bottle of OC foam (with pouch), which were all stored in a black shoulder bag. Police appeal to the public to report immediately to any police station if they locate those items of weapons.

The police constable, working in the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB), reported that he lost his weapon when on duty yesterday. Police launched an investigation immediately after receiving the report. Officers were also deployed to all places previously visited by the police constable to search for those items but to no avail. The size of the shoulder bag is 27cm long and 21cm wide, and it is made of polyester.

Police appeal to the public that if they locate those items of weapon, please call 999 or CCB at 2860 5012, or return them to the nearest police stations immediately. According to Hong Kong Law Chapter 238, Firearms and Ammunition Ordinance, section 13, it is illegal for a person to have in his possession any arms or ammunition without a licence. Upon conviction, the person is liable to a maximum penalty of a fine of $100,000 and imprisonment for 14 years. The case is now actively investigated by CCB.

Police reiterate that there are strict guidelines in place to ensure the proper handling and use of ammunition and weapon. We also attach great importance to the conduct and integrity of officers. Police will take appropriate action if misconduct is proven.
