Reports of the Director of Audit

     The Report of the Director of Audit on the Accounts of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for the year ended March 31, 2011, and Report No. 57 of the Director of Audit on the results of value for money audits completed between March and September 2011 were tabled in the Legislative Council this morning (November 16).

     The Report on the Government Accounts provides an overall assurance that the financial statements properly present the assets and liabilities of the Government as at March 31, 2011 as well as the receipts and payments for the year then ended.

     The value for money audits provide an examination of the economy, efficiency and effectiveness with which any bureau of the Government Secretariat, department, agency and other public body has discharged its functions.  Report No. 57 of the Director of Audit covers a variety of subjects on the administration of government programmes and provisions of public services.

     Report No. 57 comprises the following 12 chapters:

5          Maintenance of public roads

6          Management of the Hong Kong Wetland Park

           Department

9          Provision of public transport interchanges
           adjacent to railway stations

10         Records management work of the Government
           Records Service

11         Safety and maintenance of private slopes

12         Water losses from unauthorised consumption
           and inaccurate metering

     The Report of the Director of Audit on the Accounts of the Government for the year ended March 31, 2011 and Report No. 57 on the results of value for money audits are available on the Audit Commission's website at www.aud.gov.hk.
