The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, will leave Hong Kong tomorrow night (November 1) for the Group of Twenty (G20) Cannes Summit on November 3 and 4. He will arrive in Los Angeles on November 6 for a brief stop before attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Finance Ministers' Meeting in Honolulu on November 9 and 10.
The G20 Summit is the premier world forum for economic and financial co-operation. Mr Tsang will attend the Summit as part of the delegation of the People's Republic of China.
With the conclusion of the G20 Summit, Mr Tsang will make a two-day visit to Los Angeles on November 7 and 8 to promote the advantages of doing business in Hong Kong.
Having completed the second leg of his visit to Los Angeles, Mr Tsang will attend the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting in Honolulu on November 9 and 10, where he is scheduled to join discussions in various sessions.
Mr Tsang will return to Hong Kong in the evening on November 12. The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, will act as Financial Secretary from November 2 to 10 while the Secretary for Development, Mrs Carrie Lam, will act as Financial Secretary on November 11 and 12.
