Fugitive handed back to Hong Kong

     A 29-year-old man wanted in connection with a conspiring to throw corrosive fluid with intent to cause grievous bodily harm case was handed over from the Public Security Bureau (PSB) of Mainland China to Hong Kong Police (HKP) on October 28.

     The man was suspected to be in connection with a case in which an expatriate Counsel was splashed with corrosive fluid on Harbour Road in Wan Chai on October 27, 2009. The man fled to Mainland China afterwards.

     Officers of Organised Crime and Triad Bureau took over the case for investigation and the Mainland's PSB was requested to assist in locating the man.

     The man was intercepted by Shenzhen PSB in early October this year and was returned to HKP at Huanggang Border Control Point on October 28.

     The man has been charged with one count of conspiring to throw corrosive fluid with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He will appear in Eastern Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (October 31).
