Applications invited for Hong Kong Park Arts Corner stalls
**********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department invites interested individuals and subvented non-governmental organisations to apply to operate the new round of Arts Corner stalls at Hong Kong Park from tomorrow (October 14).

The Arts Corner (Phase 12) will be held at the outdoor area near the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware at Hong Kong Park from noon to 6pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from January 1 to December 31, 2012.

Park-goers can appreciate artistic works in a relaxed environment, making their visit more pleasurable.

The Arts Corner will feature 10 stalls selling handicrafts and artworks, including pottery, straw-weaving work, dough models, paper craftwork, carving work, accessories, floral artwork, sand paintings, cloth artwork and clay work. Services such as photography, painting, calligraphy, silhouette cutting and sketching or caricature will also be provided.

Application forms for operating the stalls are available from tomorrow at the Hong Kong Park Management Office on the first floor of Rawlinson House, 19 Cotton Tree Drive, Central, Hong Kong. The forms can also be downloaded from the website of Hong Kong Park at www.lcsd.gov.hk/parks/hkp/en/news_index.php. The office hours of the management office are from 9am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. The office is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Completed application forms should be submitted together with copies of relevant proof of professional knowledge in the respective field (if any) and sample(s) of handicrafts or artwork (not more than three pieces) to the Hong Kong Park Management Office during its office hours on or before November 11, 2011.

The Arts Corner Vetting Panel will consider the applications based on the variety, quality, creativity, artistic merit and attractiveness of the handicrafts or arts services, as well as relevant professional skills possessed by the applicants. Irrespective of the types of stalls, the first 10 applicants with the highest scores will be accepted and others will be put on the waiting list in sequence according to their scores. A ballot will be held for applicants with equal points.

Successful applicants are required to pay a registration fee of $100 and a deposit of $1,000 for each stall. If the stall is operated for less than 70 per cent of the total time stipulated in the agreement or if the agreement is terminated due to failure of the stall operator to fulfil its terms, the deposit will be forfeited and an application from the same applicant for the next round of Arts Corner at Hong Kong Park will not be accepted. Successful applicants are required to effect and keep in force public liability insurance with an indemnity of not less than $6.5 million during the agreement period.

For enquiries, please call the Hong Kong Park Management Office at 2521 5041 during office hours.
