Transcript of STH's remarks on judgement of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge judicial review (1)
*************************************************

Following is a transcript of remarks (English portion) by the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, on the judgement of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge judicial review at a stand-up session today (September 27):

Secretary for Transport and Housing: The HKSAR Government welcomes the judgement handed down by the Court of Appeal today, allowing the Director of Environmental Protection's appeal and confirming the validity of the Environmental Permits previously issued. I wish to emphasise that we have always conducted our EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) in accordance with the law.

The project has already been delayed by more than a year and the cost increase attributed to the delay is around $6.5 billion. So with the very clear and unanimous judgement handed down by the Court of Appeal today, we will now proceed full steam ahead with the statutory procedures and funding application. Our aim is to commence the project works before the end of this year.
