Work Incentive Transport Subsidy Scheme application forms available from tomorrow
**********************************************************

The Labour Department (LD) will, starting from tomorrow (September 22), distribute application forms of the Work Incentive Transport Subsidy (WITS) Scheme at 72 outlets, including: LD's Job Centres, Headquarters and WITS Division; Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department; and Social Security Field Units of the Social Welfare Department. Members of the public may also download the application form from LD's homepage ( www.labour.gov.hk ).

From October 3 onwards, completed application forms for WITS may be submitted by post or by hand to LD's WITS Division, or through the Application Drop-in Boxes at the Job Centres or Headquarters of LD. As special measures to tie in with the launch of the Scheme, the WITS Division in Middle Road, Tsim Sha Tsui will extend its counter enquiry service hours to 7.30pm from Monday to Friday (except the Chung Yeung Festival) in the first two weeks of October (i.e. October 3 to 14), and on every Monday from October 17 to December 19. During the first two weeks of October, staff of the WITS Division will also provide special help-desk service at the Job Centres to assist members of the public with enquiries about the Scheme.

The WITS Scheme will be open for applications from October 3 onwards. Applicants may apply for the subsidy for the previous six to 12 months, with the subsidy payment dating back to April 2011 the earliest. For example, applicants may apply in October for WITS from April to September, or submit an application later covering a longer payment period not exceeding 12 months.

For enquiries about the WITS Scheme, please call LD's 24-hour hotline 2717 1771 (handled by the 1823 Call Centre). Details of the Scheme are also available at LD's homepage ( www.labour.gov.hk ).
