Special traffic and transport arrangements for pyrotechnics display in Tsuen Wan this Friday
************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (September 15) reminded the public that roads in the vicinity of Tsuen Wan town centre and Tsing Yi North will be temporarily closed in phases tomorrow night (September 16) from 7.30pm onwards for the implementation of special traffic and transport arrangements and crowd control measures in relation to the pyrotechnics display over the Rambler Channel. Spectators are advised to take public transport services as far as possible.

During the period of road closures, the bus/green minibus (GMB) termini and taxi/red minibus (RMB) stands at MTR Tsuen Wan West Station, Nina Tower, Tsuen Wan Transport Complex, Hoi Shing Road, Tai Ho Road and Vision City will be temporarily closed. One ferry service and three GMB routes will be suspended while 28 bus routes and 23 GMB routes will be diverted. Passengers are advised to take note of the road closure arrangements and service suspensions and diversions of public transport services.

When the pyrotechnics display is over, spectators can take rail services at MTR Tsuen Wan West Station, Tsuen Wan Station or Tsing Yi Station on dispersal. They may also take buses or GMBs to leave the areas. Spectators are advised to be patient and follow the instructions of the Police and staff on-site.

The TD appeals to the public for their understanding, co-operation and tolerance for any inconvenience that may be caused by the road closures, traffic diversions and management measures in the areas.

The TD's Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre (ETCC) will, in co-operation with the Police, public transport operators and other relevant parties, closely monitor the traffic and transport situations.  The ETCC will implement contingency plans and release updated information to the public when necessary.

Details of the temporary traffic and transport arrangements have been uploaded onto the website of the Transport Department ( www.td.gov.hk ).
