Passengers reminded of cessation of Macao Dragon's passenger ferry service
************************************************************

On the announcement by Macao Dragon Company Limited (Macao Dragon) last night (September 14) that it would today cease its business and has decided to go into liquidation, the Marine Department reminded the affected Hong Kong-Macao ferry passengers to pay attention to the matter and make alternative arrangements as early as possible.

Last night upon learning about the cessation of Macao Dragon's Hong Kong-Macao passenger ferry service, the Marine Department immediately liaised with two other ferry service providers to get prepared to provide additional capacity when needed.  The Marine Department would deploy additional staff at the ferry terminal to help passengers who needed assistance and government departments which provide services at the terminal was informed of the matter.

Macao Dragon provided a total of eight Hong Kong-Macao trips every day. The authorities concerned assessed the situation and found that as passenger spillover brought above by the cessation of service could be absorbed by two other ferry service providers, the effect so caused should not be great.

Through various ways including direct enquiries with the company, the Marine Department has been trying to ascertain the matter but to no avail. Also, Macao Dragon is yet to communicate with the department on the cessation of service.
