Buildings Department statement on unit at 64 MacDonnell Road
************************************************************

In response to media enquiries about a unit at 64 MacDonnell Road owned by a company of the Chief Executive, the Buildings Department (BD) today (September 7) responded as follows:

The BD issued an advisory letter on June 2, 2011, to the owner of the subject premises requesting the voluntary removal of the glass panel at the verandah of the living room of the above premises or the appointment of an authorised person (AP) to certify that the said works are in compliance with the provisions of the Buildings Ordinance (BO) and its subsidiary regulations.

The BD received an application for approval of proposed building works at the above premises on the same day from the AP and the registered structural engineer appointed by the owner. The proposed works complied with the relevant requirements of the BO. The BD approved the plans and granted consent for the commencement of the proposed building works on June 30, 2011. The works commenced in early August.

Staff of the BD have recently carried out an inspection of the premises to monitor the progress of the works and found that the glass panel at the verandah of the living room of the premises had been removed and the newly constructed windows were generally completed and were in accordance with the approved plans.
