Statement by the Judiciary

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:
Pursuant to the Court of Final Appeal's reference under Article 158(3) of the Basic Law to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (SCNPC) in FACV Nos. 5, 6 & 7 of 2010, the court today (August 30) received the SCNPC's interpretation.
The court has forwarded the interpretation to the parties concerned. The full text of the SCNPC's interpretation is at the annex.
The court will now proceed to consider its judgment in the light of the SCNPC's interpretation.
