************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education:

The award presentation ceremony of the Basic Law Digital Games Development Contest, jointly organised by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE) and the Home Affairs Bureau (HAB), will be held tomorrow (July 25).

The ceremony will be held at 7pm at the Y Theatre in Youth Square, Chai Wan. Officiating guests will be the Chairman of the CPCE, Mr Joseph Lee; Convenor of the Basic Law Promotion Working Group of the CPCE, Mr Yeung Tsz-hei; Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Grace Lui; and Chairman of the Hong Kong Digital Game-based Learning Association, Mr Frankie Tam.

Members of the public are welcome to join the ceremony, which will include a singing performance.

The CPCE and HAB have been organising territory-wide events to promote the Basic Law since 2004. This year's activity aims to encourage the public to enhance their understanding of the legislation through developing digital games with the Basic Law as its theme.

The contest has three divisions: Student Division (Junior), Student Division (Senior) and Open Division. A winner and first and second runners-up are selected in each division.

To complement the contest, two workshops were organised in which Professor Benny Tai of the University of Hong Kong shared his views on the Basic Law and representatives from the Hong Kong Digital Game-based Learning Association shared useful hints on digital game development with the participants.

The contest is co-organised with the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau, Education Bureau, Department of Justice and the Hong Kong Digital Game-based Learning Association. For more details, please visit www.basiclawcontest11.hk.
