EPD exhibition on Extension of the Environmental Levy Scheme on Plastic Shopping Bags continues (with photos)
************************************************************

The roving exhibition organised by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) on the Extension of the Environmental Levy Scheme on Plastic Shopping Bags (PSBs) continues at various locations in the city.

The Under Secretary for the Environment, Dr Kitty Poon, visited the exhibition booths at Cityplaza today (July 14). During the tour, she joined the visitors in playing interactive games and exchanged views with them on the extension of the levy scheme.

"The Government is seeking public views on the extension of the Environmental Levy Scheme on PSBs. Since its implementation on July 7, 2009, the Levy Scheme has achieved remarkable results. Relevant data shows that the levy has gained broad-based support from the public," said Dr Poon.

"It is time for us to move ahead. We call for the public to support further, and urge them to come forward and offer their views within the consultation period," she added.

The Government issued a consultation document on May 17 to solicit public views on the extension of the scheme. The roving exhibition aims to further enhance the public's understanding of the scheme and encourage them to give their views on the extension.

Details of the roving exhibition are as follows:
