Public invited to join anti-drug fun day

     Members of the public are welcome to join an anti-drug fun day this Saturday (July 9).  

     The event, jointly organised by the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau, the Action Committee Against Narcotics and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre, aims to disseminate anti-drug messages through various kinds of programmes, and to steer youngsters away from drugs and encourage them to participate in healthy activities.

     The fun-filled programmes are suitable for all ages. For the first time, some of the programmes will be held at the Olympic Square of Hong Kong Park. Programme highlights will include a drumming performance, a Police band performance, detector dogs demonstrations, an interactive anti-drug drama by the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, modern dance by the City Contemporary Dance Theatre and dance and singing performances by youth groups.

     Some activities will be held in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre. The Narcotics Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force will set up a booth at the venue to provide drug information. In addition, the Hong Kong Urological Association, Princess Margaret Hospital and Tuen Mun Hospital will set up exhibition panels to present the harmful effects of ketamine. On-site health-check services will be provided by the Community Drug Advisory Council, and a thematic exhibition by Tung Wah Group CROSS Centre and a graffiti exhibition by the Warehouse Teenage Club will also be held.

     The fun day is co-organised by the Hong Kong Police Force, the Customs and Excise Department and the Anti-drug Volunteer Group, with the support of the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, the City Contemporary Dance Company, the Hong Kong Drum Ensemble, Flipz, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, the Warehouse Teenage Club, the Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers, the Caritas District Youth Outreaching Social Work Team - Southern, the Northern District Youth Outreaching Social Work Team of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong, the Tung Wah Group CROSS Centre, the Hong Kong Urological Association, Princess Margaret Hospital, Tuen Mun Hospital and the Community Drug Advisory Council.
