United Nations Sanctions (Libya) Regulation 2011 gazetted

     The Government today (June 30) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Libya) Regulation 2011 (the Regulation), which came into effect on the same date.  

     "The Regulation implements sanctions against Libyan Arab Jamahiriya (Libya) imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolutions 1970 and 1973," a Government spokesman said.

     The sanctions under the Regulation include:

* prohibition against the supply, sale, transfer or carriage of arms or related materiel to Libya or certain persons;

* prohibition against the provision of assistance or training related to military activities or to the provision, maintenance or use of any arms or related materiel to certain persons;

* prohibition against the procurement of arms or related materiel from Libya or person connected with Libya by certain persons or by using certain ships, aircraft or vehicles;

* prohibition against making available to certain persons or entities funds or other financial assets or economic resources, or dealing with funds or other financial assets or economic resources of certain persons or entities;

* prohibition against entry into or transit through the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) by certain persons;

* prohibition against certain aircraft flying into Libyan air space; and

* prohibition against aircraft carrying arms or related materiel or armed mercenary personnel or Libyan aircraft to take off from or land in the HKSAR or fly within the HKSAR air space.
