Chinese Opera Summer Camp - Demonstration and Finale Performance

     Renowned Cantonese opera virtuosi Yuen Siu-fai and Lui Hung-kwong will perform with the Dawn Radiance Opera Troupe in "Cantonese Opera Summer Camp ¡V Demonstration and Final Performance" in July.

     Dawn Radiance Cantonese Opera Troupe is a professional performance group that emphasises opera training and performance. Eight young and experienced performers from the troupe - Leung Wai-hong, Miu Dan-ching, Kwok Chun-sing, Tsoi Chi-wai, Tsui Yue-ming, Chan Ming-Ying, Cheung Kit-har and Ma Cheuk-lun - will participate in the demonstration performances of Cantonese opera excerpts on July 21 and 22. On July 23, there will be a finale performance by participants of the Cantonese Opera Summer Camp, showcasing the results of their fruitful learning experiences.

     Details of the performances are as follows:

July 21 (Thursday) 7.30pm
Auditorium, Tai Po Civic Centre
Demonstration performances of "The Ghost Wants to Be Avenged" from "A Ghostly Tale" and "The Official Seal"

July 22 (Friday) 7.30pm
Auditorium, Yuen Long Theatre
Demonstration performances of "The Gift of a Sword from Baihua" from "Pavilion of a Hundred Flowers" and "Three Duels Against the Skeleton Demon" from "Journey to the West"

July 23 (Saturday) 7.30pm
Auditorium, Yuen Long Theatre
Finale performance by Cantonese Opera Summer Camp participants, including singing performances and displays of routines such as wielding flags, fighting with weapons and flicking long sleeves
Demonstration performances of "Negotiating with the Qing Emperor" and "Sacrifice of a Princess" from "Princess Chang Ping"

     "Cantonese Opera Summer Camp - Demonstration and Final Performance" by Dawn Radiance Opera Troupe is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Tickets priced at $40 are now available at all URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by telephone credit card booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
