Restaurant in Hung Hom ordered to suspend business
**************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Hung Hom to suspend business for 14 days. The restaurant operator, who repeatedly failed to store open food properly on the premises, was in breach of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, located on the ground floor of 42 Wuhu Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (June 13) to June 26.

"In November 2010 and March 2011, two convictions for the breach were recorded against the food premises," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $9,700 was levied by the court and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises also had a record of three convictions in March and April last year for the same offence and for using open space for the storage of food utensils. A total fine of $12,000 was levied and 20 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from November 4 to 10 last year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
