**************************************************

The Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kenneth Chen, attended a live question-and-answer session on the Chief Executive's Office (CEO) Facebook page "Upper Albert Road" today (June 10) to discuss with the public the latest policy of debundling textbooks and teaching/learning materials for pricing.

The question-and-answer session was conducted live on the CEO Facebook page (www.facebook.com/UpperAlbertRoad) at 7pm. During the 45-minute session, Mr Chen addressed questions and suggestions from participants on the rationale and effects of the textbook debundling policy measures to stabilise prices of teaching materials, support for schools, sharing of teaching resources among teachers and relevant overseas experiences.

"I am glad to have discussed the latest policy on textbooks and teaching/learning materials with netizens on this online platform. I thank them for their active participation. The Government will continue to ensure the provision of quality and value-for-money materials for teachers and students," Mr Chen said.

For questions not answered during the session because of time constraints, the Education Bureau will provide collective responses on the CEO Facebook page.

The new question-and-answer sessions aim to enrich the platforms for public engagement. Each time a current issue of public interest will be selected for discussion. Members of the public are welcome to ask questions and share their views and opinions, and the relevant departments will respond. The full version of each session will be uploaded to "Upper Albert Road", the CEO's YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/CEOffice) and the CEO's Tudou channel (www.tudou.com/home/_79754323).
