The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will organise the Kowloon City Community Thematic Carnival, entitled "Deep in Love with Kowloon City", at Carpenter Road Park Soccer Pitch and Kowloon Walled City Park this Sunday afternoon (May 29) from 3pm to 10pm. Featuring the rich historic background of Kowloon City, the Carnival will showcase a series of performances and entertainment for the public to enjoy. Admission to all programmes is free.
Entertaining performances will be held on the main stage at Carpenter Road Park Soccer Pitch. These performances will include Chinese orchestra, city folk songs, Thai dance, hip hop and jazz dance, Cantonese opera, musical theatre and an outdoor film show, while the side stage at Kowloon Walled City Park will present choral singing, Chinese drumming, a band show and music and dance performances.
A giant chessboard will be set up, together with the broadcast of documentaries and animation, to tell the history of Kowloon City. There will also be participatory games featuring the characteristics of Kowloon City and a mosaic workshop for children to test their skills.
Members of the public may also take part in a series of guided tours and a bus tour to discover the monuments and scenic spots of Kowloon City, including the famous Kowloon Walled City Park, the Cattle Depot Artist Village, Hoi Sham Park, Sung Wong Toi Park and Holy Trinity Church.
