Following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) by the Secretary for Education, Mr Michael Suen, at a media session at the Central Government Offices today (May 24):

Reporter: What sort of unauthorised structures were found in your home? Why you wait so many years after being notified? Do you think it will harm your credibility?

Secretary for Education: These are very small areas which I have enclosed for placing miscellaneous items and also my laundry machine. Because of the fact that these existed at the time when I bought it (the apartment) in the year 1994 and the area occupied is very small, I took no action but now that the new regulation has come into effect on April 1 this year, I am now following the regulation and have engaged a contractor and also an Authorised Person to supervise the demolition of the illegal structure tomorrow.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
