CS visits Lam Tin Estate (with photos/video)
********************************************

The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, today (April 27) visited Lam Tin Estate to learn more about the building quality and associated facilities of a newly completed public rental housing (PRH) estate.

Touring various environmental protection facilities in the estate, Mr Tang learned that Lam Tin Estate adopted micro-climate studies in its design, made best use of natural light and wind, and boasted the biggest roof photovoltaic system among PRHs.

Mr Tang inspected selected residential flats and the well-equipped barrier-free facilities in Lam Tin Estate. A display of historic photographs taken before redevelopment and the replica of a food stall gave Mr Tang a better understanding of the development there. On his way he also chatted with residents of the estate.

Speaking after the visit, Mr Tang said he was glad to see the continued improvements in the quality and facilities of PRH estates. They were designed in a people-based, environmentally friendly and inclusive manner which enabled the tenants to enjoy a better living environment.

Lam Tin Estate was the last phase of the Hong Kong Housing Authority's Lam Tin Redevelopment Programme launched in 1992. Completed in 2009, the four-block estate is now home to over 3 000 households.
