Senior Counsel appointed

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:
     
     The Honourable Chief Justice Geoffrey Ma Tao-li is pleased to announce today (April 19) the appointment of three Senior Counsel of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.  They are:

     Mr Graham Anthony Harris
     Mr Stewart Wong Kai-ming
     Miss Linda Chan Ching-fan

     The appointments are made by the Chief Justice under section 31A of the Legal Practitioners Ordinance.

     The appointments will take effect from the date of the Instrument of Appointment, which will be executed on May 21, 2011, when the ceremonial proceedings will be held at 10am in Court No 1 in the High Court.

     The biographical notes of the newly appointed Senior Counsel are as follows:

Mr Graham Anthony Harris

     Mr Graham Anthony Harris, aged 59, obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree at the College of Law, Chancery Lane, London.  He was admitted to the Middle Temple in 1975 and to the Hong Kong Bar in 1985.  He served in the then Attorney General's Chambers from 1984 to 1995.  His practice is mainly in the criminal area.

Mr Stewart Wong Kai-ming

     Mr Stewart Wong Kai-ming, aged 47, obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree in Hong Kong and Master of Laws degree at the University of London.  He was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 1987.  His practice is mainly in the civil area.

Miss Linda Chan Ching-fan

      Miss Linda Chan Ching-fan, aged 41, passed the Common Professional Examination and obtained her Master of Laws degree in Hong Kong.  She was admitted to the Middle Temple and the Hong Kong Bar in 1996.  Her practice is mainly in the civil area.
