Six employers ordered to pay MPF contributions

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (April 1) obtained an order for payment of outstanding MPF contributions of $68,564.3 against an employer at the District Court.

     The employer, Chin Ngai Drainage Company Limited, was ordered to pay the MPFA the sum of $68,564.3, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to its 10 employees.

     Separately, the MPFA successfully pursued five claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $73,000 on behalf of 29 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At the Tribunal's hearings today, the defendants, Lipton Wong Asia Pacific Co. Limited formerly known as Lipton Wong Company Limited trading as Mario Incorporation, JS Consulting Group Limited formerly known as Lincoln Business School Limited, Good Faith Security Consultants Limited, Ocean Link International Investment Limited and Oscar Star Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $27,435.8, $18,145, $11,209.44, $10,605 and $5,867.82 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
 
     The amounts awarded at both the District Court and the Tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendant to pay the cost of $930 and the Tribunal ordered the defendants to pay $165, $149, $119, $129 and $119 respectively as the costs of the claims.
