The Government announced today (March 29) that the Chief Executive had appointed Mr David Sun Tak-kei and the Managing Director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA), Mrs Diana Chan Tong Chee-ching, as Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee).
At the same time, the Financial Secretary, in exercise of the authority delegated by the Chief Executive, has appointed Mr William Chan Che-kwong, Ms Bethy Ho Kum-man, Mr Ip Wai-ming, Mrs Agnes Koon Woo Kam-oi, Mr Larry Kwok Lam-kwong, Mr Fred Li Wah-ming and Mr Paul Pong Po-lam, to the Advisory Committee. The other two re-appointed members of the Committee are Mr Stanley Lau Chin-ho and Ms Ng Wai-yee.
All the above appointments will take effect from tomorrow (March 30) for a term of two years.
While expressing gratitude to the outgoing Chairperson, Mr Lee Kai-ming and seven other outgoing members, a government spokesman said the Government was confident that the new membership of the committee would bring new insights to the improvement of the Mandatory Provident Fund System. The seven outgoing members are Mr Chan Kin-por, Mr Bob Chong Hot-hoi, Mr Albert Ho Chun-yan, Mr Lam Yim-nam, Mr Leung Fu-wah, Mr Alvin Wong Tak-wai and Mr V-nee Yeh.
The Advisory Committee is a statutory body established under the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance which advises the MPFA with respect to the operation of the Ordinance as well as the effectiveness or efficiency of the MPFA.
"With members representing interests of employers and employees as well as professionals from different sectors, the Government is confident that the Advisory Committee, under the leadership of Mr David Sun Tak-kei, will offer valuable advice to the MPFA and contribute to the continued improvement of the Mandatory Provident Fund System," the spokesman said.
