Views Sought on the "Review of the minimum and maximum relevant income levels for Mandatory Provident Fund contributions"
*******************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

The Legislative Council Panel on Financial Affairs now invites members of the public and interested parties to express their views on the "Review of the minimum and maximum relevant income levels for Mandatory Provident Fund contributions".

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) has completed the second four-yearly review of the minimum and maximum relevant income levels for Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) contributions. The Panel on Financial Affairs received a briefing by MPFA on its review at the meeting on February 21, 2011. Given the possible impacts of the above review on employers, employees and service providers, the Panel considers it necessary to invite views from interested parties as well as the public on the review.

Written submissions should be sent to the Panel Clerk on or before April 13, 2011. If the submissions are available in both Chinese and English, please provide both versions (preferably with soft copy).

Panel on Financial Affairs will hold a special meeting on April 20, 2011 (Wednesday) at 4.30pm in the Chamber of the Legislative Council Building to receive views from the public on the said issue. Interested parties to attend the meeting are requested to complete and return the reply slip (can be downloaded from the website: www.legco.gov.hk/general/english/sec/invite_s/fa0420-reply-e.pdf) to the Panel Clerk on or before April 8, 2011.

In line with the usual practice, all submissions received will be made available to the media and the public, and uploaded onto the website of the Legislative Council unless the concerned parties have advised otherwise. Submissions received and oral presentations at the meeting will not be covered by the protection and immunity provided under the Legislative Council (Powers and Privileges) Ordinance (Cap. 382).
