Appointment to Independent Commission on Remuneration for Members of Exco and Legco, and Officials under the Political Appointment System

     The Chief Executive has re-appointed Mr Vincent Cheng Hoi-chuen as Chairman of the Independent Commission on Remuneration for Members of the Executive Council and the Legislature, and Officials under the Political Appointment System of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Independent Commission) for a period of two years with effect from April 1, 2011, a Government spokesman announced today (March 18).

     The Chief Executive has also re-appointed Mr Nicky Lo Kar-chun, Mr Chow Chung-kong and Mrs Betty Yuen So Siu-mai as members of the Independent Commission with effect from April 1, 2011.  The term of appointment for Mr Lo will be two years while that for Mr Chow and Mrs Yuen will be three years.  

     In addition, the Chief Executive has appointed Professor Chan Yuk-shee and Ms Kelly Chan Yuen-sau as members of the Independent Commission for a period of three years with effect from April 1, 2011.  

     "We would like to thank the two outgoing members, Professor Liu Pak-wai and Mr Ng Leung-sing, for their invaluable contribution to the work of the Independent Commission over the years," the spokesman said.

     The Independent Commission advises the Government on matters relating to the systems of remuneration for members of the Executive Council and the Legislative Council, as well as for officials under the Political Appointment System.
