"Schumann's Love in Words and Music" to return in April
*******************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will next month (April) rerun "Schumann's Love in Words and Music", a heartwarming show which reveals the composer's love and passion through his music and the recitation of his letters.

Schumann is one of the Romantic period's leading musicians. However, his love life was complex and his romance with pianist Clara Wieck was beset with obstacles and difficulties. Schumann and Clara wrote extensively to each other when they were far far apart ...

In this performance, veteran actress Lo Koon-lan and music promoter Jimmy Shiu will read from a selection of letters by Schumann and Clara Wieck while renowned pianist Nancy Loo will perform some of Schumann's works, including "Davidsbundlertanze", "Sonata No. 2", "Romance in F-sharp", as well as selections from "Kinderszenen", "Fantasie in C" and "Fantasiestucke".

"Schumann's Love in Words and Music" will be conducted in Cantonese and the recited letters (Chinese and English) will be printed in the house programme. It will take place at 7.30pm on April 16 and 17 (Saturday and Sunday) and at 3pm on April 17 (Sunday) at the Special Exhibition Gallery, Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum. Tickets priced at $200 (free seating) are now available at URBTIX outlets, on the internet and by credit card telephone booking. Senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients will receive a 50% discount (limited tickets for students and CSSA recipients on a first-come, first-served basis). A meet-the-artists session will be held after each performance.
