The Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council (ExCo), Mr Leung Chun-ying, and some ExCo Members met the media on the 2011-12 Budget at the Legislative Council Building today (February 23). Following is the transcript (English portion) of the media session:
Reporter: How do you comment on the Budget announced by the Financial Secretary?
Convenor of the ExCo Non-official Members: It is a very comprehensive package of measures to address the expectations and needs of various sectors of the society. It is a budget that we recommend to the Hong Kong community to accept. I think the Financial Secretary in his Budget has applied the surplus that we have obtained in the past year largely due to the good performance of the investment market to satisfy these needs.
Reporter: How can it respond to the needs of the public that they have to have housing and other kinds of needs?
Convenor of the ExCo Non-official Members: It is a very comprehensive package. It addresses the short-term needs of various parts of the community and also the longer-term issue such as the area of housing prices by releasing more land into the market to make sure that we do have a better balance between supply and demand.
