Transcript of remarks by CS on Budget (with video)
**************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, at a media session on the 2011-12 Budget at the Legislative Council Building this afternoon (February 23):

The Financial Secretary has just announced the 2011-12 Budget. This budget is comprehensive, thorough, as well as within our affordability to be able to alleviate or mitigate much of the pressure that the community faces. In terms of investing in the future, he has invested into education, sustainable development, sports, as well as research and development. I think these are all very important measures that will build for our future and invest in our next generations.

Regarding the housing prices, in responding to a lot of the community aspirations, he has introduced more supply, in order to mitigate or to stabilise the prices of housing. In terms of inflation, there are numerous measures that will alleviate or mitigate the inflationary pressure faced by many, especially the grass-root sectors.

This is a very comprehensive, thorough, as well as sustainable Budget in response to many aspirations and wishes of the community. I urge the community and LegCo members to support this Budget. Thank you very much.
