Two employers ordered to pay MPF contributions

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (February 22) successfully pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $10,000 for 60 employees who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At the Tribunal's hearings today, the defendants, Good Faith Security Consultants Limited and Good Faith Security Management Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $9,871.84 and $882.79 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable. The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF account as soon as they are received by the MPFA.

     The Adjudicator further ordered the two defendants to pay $99 and $40 respectively as the costs of the claims.
