Seventeen more samples of imported German foods pass dioxin tests
************************************************************

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department today (January 26) announced that 17 more samples of imported German food products have passed dioxin tests. To date, all the dioxin test results of an accumulative total of 33 samples were satisfactory.

"All 17 samples were collected at the import level, comprising 10 samples of pork and seven samples of pork products," a CFS spokesman said.

The CFS announced the satisfactory test results of the first batch of five samples and the second batch of 11 samples on January 14 and 19 respectively.

"The measure to hold and examine imported German eggs, poultry and poultry products as well as pork and pork products will remain in place. We will continue liaison with the German authorities and the European Commission, and monitor the latest developments closely," the spokesman said.

In view of the detection of dioxins in Germany in early January in some eggs, poultry and pork produced in the country, samples of imported German food products have been collected from the local market and at the import level to test for dioxins.
